Here we are at the Dawn of a New Millenium .

The last 200 years have been a time of radical material expansion .

The Industrial Revolution certainly was revolutionary

in the Change it made to human life .

The last 100 years , decade by decade,has been a time of

exponential technological advancement.

When my grandmother was a teenager,they hadn't figured

out how to combine sound with moving pictures .These

were the days of Silent Movies . Now we have satellites

beaming all sorts of sound and image around the globe.

What a journey we've been through as a human family .

Having evolved from ' commanding Fire ' by using friction

and flint , to being able to blow away a whole city .

Times are certainly not what they used to be .

Earth itself , is demonstrating the Change

The days of surely knowing when to plant the carrot

seeds are gone . Climactic surprises abound.

Seems like weather Patterns are a thing of the past.

For all the unpredictability,one thing that's remaining consistent is

how fast everything's happening .

The pace of everyday life has sped up affecting people's lives to different degrees .

Some children would have no understanding of the reality of a house filled with the

warm aroma of a simmering fragrant stew . For them Reality is a world of microwave

and instant noodles .

[ Somehow i don't see sensory deprivation as being a sign of Progress , but that's coz i

associate fragrance with Life , and personally am delighted to have the enormous

enjoyment of a nose . So for me the sterility of cooking via radiation is retrograde and

deevolutionary.]

But as most wouldn't consider measuring Evolution by a nose , how do we evaluate the

state of our current World and individual lifestyles at the turning of this New Millenium ?

Looking back over history we witness the growth and decline of civilizations

and cultures . We refer to different stages of humanity's

evolution : the Dark / Middle Ages, Age of Reason , Age of

Enlightenment etc .

[ Of course there are different versions of the History of the

Human Race .If one is educated by White Peoples History ,

one will have a different picture of the world than if one

were educated in the Red Peoples History .

[Even amongst White people , one will get a different world

picture depending upon Who is doing the educating .]

Has humankind experienced ' Golden Ages ' before ?

Times of great social harmony , creativity and abundance for all .

Or have we predominantly been a barbaric lot ?

Maybe if we availed ourselves of the Histories as reported by the Black, Red ,Yellow

and White peoples and within those Races, the stories that belong to the different

'tribes ' of that race we would have a more accurate picture of Human History .

[ i felt quite backward in my twenties to discover that Flight which i had been taught

was a relatively modern day phenomenon , was talked about as commonplace

in Ancient India . ]

So here at the Dawn of this New MIllenium , how barbaric or enlightened are we ?

How would peoples of the future describe and assess us now ?

We need not feel embarrassed to examine and evaluate the state of our barbaric

ignorance or the state of our healthy enlightenment for the willingness and ability to

do such a reflective reality check , is the evolutionary dynamic that distinguishes

humans from other lifeforms

So when we individually and collectively employ our consciousness

to do a Reality Check on the state of our sanity and wholeness ,

we are actively demonstrating our enlightenment .

The very act of spotting the barbarian in ourselves is

paradoxically the act of an enlightened nature .

We see the necessity for updating and upgrading our computers .

Similarly the very act of shining a light on aspects

of thought or behaviour that needs changing,

is proof of our evolutionary genius at work

For anytime we have the courage to perceive where

an aspect of the ' barbaric oldmillenium neanderthal' exists in us ,

is simultaneously a time of victory, an evolutionary progressive step

that activates transformation.

So here we are ...all of us Pioneers at the launch of this New Millenium with

each individual having the power to shape this new world of ours .

What an amazing time to be alive !
